Cegal Blueback Avary (Avary) is a re-designed, highly optimized post-stack processing and geophysical prospect de-risking workflow.
Amplitude Versus Offset (AVO) and prospect de-risking analysis deliver seismic products that feed into validating any investment in a hydrocarbon prospect.
Traditionally these geophysical workflows used by geologists and geophysicists to de-risk lithology, fluid content, thickness, and porosity of rocks are very data and compute-heavy. They are centered on manipulating multiple large seismic volumes that can sit across multiple software applications. Typically, the workflows involve long computational times before the visibility of results is possible and a constant transfer of data between applications. Iterating on parameterization becomes a costly, time-consuming exercise before results are available to make an informed decision.
3 years ago – we Cegal entered a strategic partnership with AkerBP where we both share the desire to create next-generation geoscience software for the oil and gas industry. AkerBP, realized they need a new piece of technology that allows them to take the data they receive from the contractors through to being able to deliver the final product - which is risked prospect analysis or reservoir characterization in a production setting, but of the highest quality. So the goal was set for Avary - to develop new software that streamlined and re-imagined this workflow into an interactive, dynamic experience, in one application, from which a higher frequency of seismic analysis can be achieved on these ever-growing data sets.

Now commercially available, Avary delivers the highest quality products within a time frame that allowed the client to come with impact, understanding, and data-driven subsurface analysis where and when it matters for decision-making.
Avary is a stand-alone application that contains various options for seismic data conditioning, noise removal, AVO analysis, attribute analysis, spectral decomposition, and seismic inversion.
The optimization within this workflow is achieved by Avary through various optimization, both algorithmic and architecturally to allow optimal use of hardware and computational resources.
The key to enabling this optimization is Flows – Cegal’s next-generation software architecture.
