What is rock physics?

Rock physics characterize rock properties based on seismic data to determine the porosity of rocks and the velocity of seismic waves traveling through them. In oil and gas exploration and production, rock physics is used to describe reservoir rock and make accurate predictions of the effect of rock-fluid interactions.

Cegal and rock physics

Rock physics is at the heart of many of Cegal's software technologies. Considered advanced geophysics, Cegal is at the cutting edge of implementation of rock physics methods and techniques within our software portfolio.

Blueback Seismic Reservoir Characterization provides the workflow for determining seismic properties associated with geology to understand the AVO relationships that exist within the data.

Blueback Rock Physics is a dynamic tool for validation of reservoir properties through the creation of advanced rock models to maximise the understanding of the relationship between seismic data and rock properties.

Blueback ODiSI provides an advanced stochastic inversion algorithm and workflow which brings together all known geological and geophysical information to produce high quality property estimates of a reservoir.
