What is Reservoir Engineering?

Reservoir engineering is a branch of petroleum engineering that applies scientific principles to the fluid flow through porous medium during the development and production of oil and gas reservoirs so as to obtain a high economic recovery. The working tools of the reservoir engineer are subsurface geology, applied mathematics, and the basic laws of physics and chemistry governing the behaviour of liquid and vapor phases of crude oil, natural gas, and water in reservoir rock.

Cegal and Reservoir Engineering

The Blueback Reservoir Engineering Toolbox has been designed to enrich the experience of Petrel when facing common workflows relating to operations and reservoir simulation workflows. The Cegal SYSCO solutions allow our customers to better model saturation, perform 3D Grid QC and interactively create tartan grids.

Typical Reservoir Engineering workflows can be further complemented with Blueback Investigator for dynamic understanding of multi-domain data sets, including tabular data and analysis of simulation cases.
