What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT, which stands for Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer, is a chatbot developed by the power player in artifical intelligence, OpenAI. It was released as a prototype in November 2022.

OpenAI has trained a model called ChatGPT which interacts in a conversational way. The dialogue format makes it possible for ChatGPT to answer follow-up questions, admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect premises, and reject inappropriate requests. ChatGPT is a sibling model to InstructGPT, which is trained to follow an instruction in a prompt and provide a detailed response.

After one week of launching, ChatGPT gained 1 million users. This new model shows off and tests what a very large, powerful AI system can accomplish.

What kind of questions can you ask?

For example, you can ask encyclopedia questions like "explain the laws of motion", or tell it "write me a poem", and when it does, say, "now make it more exciting". You can also for example provide the data for an essay, and ask it to write you an essay on any topic.

ChatGPT's expertise is broad, and its ability to follow a conversation is notable. The limitations of ChatGPT is that it can give you wrong answers, but the fact that it offers an answer at all though, is notable development in computing.

Cegal and ChatGPT

Cegal and our people has been impressed and played around with ChatGPT since its launch.

We have done internal experimentation, as implementation with connectors to other services, to build a more complete proof-of-concept. We have used it for code generation for applications and scripts, and we have even looked at how this can improve how one can find and utilize information more efficient.
