What is Apple Pay?

Launched in 2014, Apple Pay is Apple's own mobile payment and digital wallet service. The service enables private individuals to easily, securely and privately pay by iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac without using a physical card or cash.

The service uses near-field communication (NFC), which means that the solution interacts with payment terminals in physical stores and supports contactless payment. Apple Pay can also be used to pay in certain online stores and in mobile apps from App Store. Depending on which banks are involved, Apple Pay works with Visa, MasterCard, and American Express debit and credit cards.

Apple Pay is a more secure way to pay. When a purchase is made, the service uses a device-specific number and a unique transaction code. In addition, the card number is never stored on the device or on Apple's servers. When payment is made, the card number is never shared with the merchant.

In a digital wallet, debit cards, credit cards and customer cards are safely stored with other types of documents, such as boarding passes and airline tickets. In a digital wallet, credit and debit cards can also be added, for the companies that are part of the solution. The level of security is the same, and you can still collect points and retain all the benefits of these cards.
