What is a power company?

A power company is an enterprise that produces different forms of energy, which it then sells to end users. It could be electrical energy, district heating (the heating of water), gas or similar.

Power companies used to be known as electricity companies, but they now often produce several forms of energy, not just electricity or electrical energy; hence, the change of name to power companies.
