When Volvo Car Stor-Oslo (VCSO) opened its doors to the public in its new flagship store in Oslo in the spring of 2025, the premises and interior weren't the only things brand new. The digital engine, the entire IT infrastructure, was also refurbished. Over the course of a couple of hectic weeks, the digital foundation was built, prepared, and tested.
When our employees moved into the new premises and the first customers walked through the doors, everything worked on the first try. Since the opening, we haven't had any problems. From day one, the digital systems has been running without a hitch.
Ole-Alexander Moy, Head of Digital at Volvo Car Stor-Oslo.
For VCSO, the move to new premises at Ryen marks the start of a gradual renewal of the company's IT infrastructure. The IT setup in the flagship store will serve as a template for the other branches, with the branch at Fornebu being the next to be renewed.
“With Cegal, we have the ideal IT partner with a perfect combination of technical expertise and industry understanding. Their business insight means we get sound, relevant advice. It gives us confidence that we’re choosing the right solutions,” Moy continues.
VCSO is owned by Autostrada and Kverneland Bil. The company took over three Volvo dealerships in the Oslo region in July 2022. Today, VCSO accounts for about a fifth of Volvo's new car sales in Norway. The goal is to be one of Europe's most forward-looking and modern Volvo dealerships. The dealership will give customers a new and unique Volvo experience and make car ownership seamless, hassle-free, and predictable. The customer and the customer journey are equally important, regardless of whether the customer meeting is physical or digital.
Volvo Car Ryen has around 45 employees, sells new and used Volvos, and provides workshop services for Volvo and Polestar.
Moy says, "Customer meetings are about creating good experiences with clear agreements and focus on the customer."
Running a car dealership and workshop today requires an IT infrastructure that is always up and running so that the IT services are always available.
If the network goes down or a system is unavailable, customers have a poor experience and we can lose reputation and money. If we are to grow and gain market share, our employees must be supported by a stable IT platform.

Cegal set up and configured wireless and wired networks, switches, fiber connections, firewalls, as well as PCs and devices. Part of the project has also been to strengthen IT security. In addition, Cegal delivers Servicedesk.
Although this project is in the automotive industry, the methodology and setup are relevant to all companies that rely on critical IT solutions - regardless of industry. Stability, security, and flexibility are fundamental to any business that handles large amounts of value and where downtime has a major impact on deliverability.
Moy emphasizes that the collaboration with Cegal has gone very well and that VCSO has always had access to the necessary experts and resources.
I want to use Cegal even more in the future. We have a stable and secure infrastructure. We need a partner that can deliver according to best practice and provide forward-looking advice.

Today's cars can jokingly be called "computers on wheels". VCSO has set up its own wireless points that allow systems to communicate with the cars when they are in the workshop. This makes service more efficient and the customer experience even better.
Moy concludes, "Going forward, the amount of software and operational technology (OT) that needs to connect to other systems will increase. This will open up new services, such as automatic wheel alignment checks when cars drive into the workshop. At the same time, IT security becomes even more important, and for example, integrations and communication are properly documented."
