Petoro’s most crucial task is to ensure maximum value and achieve the highest possible income for the State from SDFI. Ensuring the data from the continental Shelf is correct is essential. Minor faults in the data may have enormous consequences for decision-making and security.

A Source of Truth (SoT) framework originated to ensure consistent, reliable, high-quality data for operational decision-making. The Source of Truth project at Petoro aimed to provide confidence in the accuracy of the data sources, thereby enhancing the company's quality control (QC) over data from the fields on the Norwegian continental shelf. This included securing accurate data regarding 140 fields, 5,800 wells, and 9,800 wellbores on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, which generates approximately NOK 1,500 billion in revenue daily.
