Backend development is also called server-side programming. This is the development of the server software in a web application. This contains business logic, server setup, database accesses and much more. This often delivers data and information in a format Front-end can easily use, usually via an API.
Often one can talk about at least two different types of back-end: BFF (Back-end For Front-end) which are back-end services developed specifically for websites or online applications. This is often developed in Node.js or similar frameworks.
The second type is further back in the stack, and is not particularly adapted to a web service or web application. These are more generic services designed to deliver data transfers and services to a large number of applications and services. This is often included in a company's integration platform. This usually consists of REST APIs, in addition to more customized data transfers.
Cegal and Back-end
At Cegal, we work with several frameworks and services within integrations and back-end development. We have expertise in, but not limited to, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Service Bus and many other services. We also work with cross-platform services such as Kubernetes, Kafka and much more.
We do not lock ourselves to a platform or framework, but try to learn from each other across technologies and languages. We work both with low-code solutions, such as Azure Logic Apps, or pure programming and coding solutions. Here we work in most languages - including, but not limited to, C#, Java, Go, and much more.
